Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® provides comprehensive education benefits for veterans who served on active duty after September 10, 2001.
What the Benefit Covers
- Tuition and fees (paid directly to the college)
- Monthly housing allowance (if eligible)
- Annual stipend for books and supplies
- Option to transfer benefits to eligible dependents (if approved)
Eligibility Requirements
- Must have served on active duty after September 10, 2001
- Must meet minimum service requirements set by the VA
- Must have an honorable discharge
- Benefit level is based on length of service
How to Apply
First-Time Users:
Apply online at https://www.va.gov/education/ and complete VA Form 22-1990 (Application for Educational Benefits) to receive your Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
Returning Users:
If you have previously used VA education benefits, complete VA Form 22-1995 (Change of Program or Place of Training) at http://www.gibill.va.gov to receive an updated Certificate of Eligibility.
Required Documents
Submit the following items to the Ranger College Financial Aid Office:
- Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
- DD-214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty)
- Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities
- VA Request for Certification Form
- VA Degree Plan
Degree plans are completed by your advisor.
