CARES, CRRSAA, and ARP Act Student Aid and Institutional Support Grant Funds

Ranger College received the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) Student Aid grant funded by the CARES Act (HEERF I) that was signed into law on March 27, 2020. This grant is available to support students with expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. Ranger College received an additional HEERF Student Aid grant funded by the CRRSA Act (HEERF II) to make financial aid grants to students, which may be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care, or child care. Ranger College received additional HEERF Student Aid grant funding through the ARP Act (HEERF III) to provide emergency financial aid grants to students, which may be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care, or child care. Federal funds are limited and not guaranteed. Ranger College must adhere to federal guidelines set forth by the Department of Education.

ARP Act Student Aid

  1. Ranger College acknowledges that it has signed the Certification and Agreement and assures that it will use the applicable amount of funds designated under the ARP Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  2. Ranger College will receive $3,981,247 in total funding, with the student portion totaling $2,063,257.
  3. Ranger College estimates that approximately 750 students will qualify and benefit from the ARP Act funds.
  4. Student aid grant awards of $200 per completed Summer 2021 semester credit hour with a maximum of $2,500 per student were distributed to students that also qualified to receive Pell awards. Student aid grant awards of $2,000 were distributed to students that completed 6 or more semester credit hours in the Fall 2021 semester and qualified to receive Pell awards. Student aid grant awards of $2,800 were distributed to students that enrolled in 6 or more semester credit hours in the Spring 2022 semester and qualified to receive Pell awards. Student aid grant awards of $2,600 were distributed to students that enrolled in 6 or more semester credit hours in the Spring 2022 semester and completed a FASFA that reported an EFC between $5,848 and $8,999. Student aid grant awards of $1,522 were distributed to students that enrolled in 6 or more semester credit hours in the Spring 2022 semester and completed a FASFA that reported an EFC between $9,000 and $14,999.

As of March 31, 2022, the total amount of funds disbursed to 551 students was $2,063,257.

  4. Student aid grant awards of $1,460 were distributed to students receiving Pell awards during the Spring 2021 semester that completed 6 or more hours

CARES Act Student Aid

  1. Ranger College acknowledges that it has signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certificate and Agreement to receive CARES Act Emergency Relief Funds and that it will use at least 50% of the allocated amounts to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  2. Ranger College received $1,047,733 in total funding, with the student portion totaling $523,867.
  3. Ranger College estimates that approximately 500 students will qualify and benefit from the CARES Act funds.
  4. Ranger College created an online application for students to use to apply for funds. Ranger College emailed the web link to all students enrolled in Spring 2020 courses except those enrolled in dual credit programs. In August 2020, the application was opened for students enrolled in Summer 2020 courses. Students considered Title IV eligible who were enrolled and completed the spring 2020 semester and /or the summer 2020 semester were eligible. The Spring and Summer 2020 application was closed in October 2020 and a Fall 2020 application was opened in November for students scheduled to graduate in December 2020. The application was based on the agreement with the CARES Act Certification to only use funds for expenses related to the COVID-19 disruption of campus operations. The types of student expenses that will be reimbursed through the CARES Act funds include food, housing, course materials for moving to online instruction, technology, health care, and childcare. Grant awards for Spring and Summer 2020 ranged from $600 to $1,200 per student depending on the student’s enrollment status. Grant awards for Fall 2020 graduates were $100 per credit hour completed that semester. The remaining student grant awards were distributed to all students receiving Pell awards during the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters.
