Montgomery GI Bill® (Chapter 30)

The Montgomery GI Bill® (Chapter 30) provides education benefits to veterans who have served on active duty and contributed to the program during their military service.

What the Benefit Covers

  • Monthly education benefit payments sent directly to the student
  • Can be used for tuition, fees, and other education-related expenses
  • Eligible for degree programs, certificates, and some training programs

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have served on active duty
  • Must have contributed to the MGIB program while in service
  • Must have an honorable discharge
  • Must meet VA service and time-in-service requirements

How to Apply

First-Time Users:
Apply online at https://www.va.gov/education/ and complete VA Form 22-1990 (Application for Educational Benefits) to receive your Certificate of Eligibility (COE).

Returning Users:
Complete VA Form 22-1995 (Change of Program or Place of Training) at https://www.va.gov/education/.
